Accumulating a lot of yards doesn't necessarily mean you have a good or efficient wide out on your hands. Say that player is forcefed his touches or maybe generates everything via screens. The goal of the depth adjusted catch percentage aims to determine efficiency like a normal catch rate but also applies more risk/reward for how far the receiver is downfield.
